THE LOST MURAL OF VIA CANTALUPO (2016)

The Story: An Attic Stairway Jam

In 2016, the entrance to our attic apartment in via Cantalupo needed a drastic splash of energy and color. Instead of going for standard wallpaper, we decided to transform the entire staircase into an independent street art gallery. We invited three exceptional friends and artists to take over the walls: Mr. Fijodor, Anamakem, and Fabio Fatc4p.

This space became a playground of contrasting styles, immortalized in our archive through a series of step-by-step photos. Though the subsequent tenants eventually moved in and painted over everything with flat white paint, these walls live forever here on The Wall.

Artist Focus: Mr. Fijodor (Fijodor Benzo)

Fijodor Benzo, alias Mr. Fijodor, is a prominent Italian street artist whose work focuses heavily on social and environmental critique, executing monsters, stylized creatures, and raw conceptual metaphors.

The small, vibrant pink elephant with a megaphone-like trunk is a legendary signature. This little elephant is part of a series of spontaneous, quick-fire characters that Fijodor leaves behind on city walls nottetempo (during his night walks), acting as a silent urban witness.

Style Clash: Pop Monsters & The Galactic Empire

The staircase was structured as a continuous visual dialogue between three distinct minds:

  • The Playful & The Surreal: Alongside Mr. Fijodor’s signature pink elephant, the walls feature massive, sharp-toothed colorful monsters climbing up the handrails, utilizing neon tones and bold outlines characteristic of early 2010s street pop.

  • The Galactic Request: Lower down the stairs, the style shifts into a dripping, raw, sketchy black-and-red monochrome. These striking Star Wars Stormtroopers were a very specific, uncompromising request from my son, a massive fan of the franchise. Painted with energetic brushstrokes and dripping acrylics, they anchored the pop fantasy of the upper walls into a gritty, sci-fi military subversion.
