KUNSTLABOR 2 - Kunst- & Kulturzentrum München

While wandering through Munich, exploring its vibrant contemporary scene, we discovered a place that is an absolute must-visit for any street art lover: KUNSTLABOR 2. Standing as Munich’s largest cultural interim use project, this jaw-dropping hub spans over 15,000 m² of indoor and outdoor space.

Located inside a sprawling former health center at Dachauer Straße 90, the monumental complex was transformed by the visionary team behind the MUCA (Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art), turning a sterile, functional facility into an active, breathing sanctuary for underground culture and urban experimentation.

The structural core of KUNSTLABOR 2 relies on a dynamic double-layered exhibition strategy:

The Permanent Installations: Dozens of artists were given total freedom to take over individual rooms, offices, and hallways of the former clinic, creating immersive, permanent site-specific installations that completely recontextualize the original architecture.
The Changing Exhibitions: The venue simultaneously hosts rotating temporary events. We were incredibly lucky during our visit, as the main hall was hosting Seth’s Spiel(t)räume—the emotional and deeply inspiring solo exhibition by Seth Globepainter to which we have dedicated a separate, specific archive entry.

While Seth’s poetic universe stole our hearts in the temporary wing, the rest of the building offered an overwhelming journey through diverse contemporary styles.
